A few days before New Year’s we were asked to play a party at the Cake Shop with our friend’s brother’s band, The Subjects. It was a tough decision, but how could anyone say no to playing music, getting free drinks, and avoiding the midtown crowds. Below are some pictures taken by our friends Tsugumi and Brandon.

Next Monday, January 7, we will be playing with our friends The Art of Shooting at Mercury Lounge in New York. It should be a pretty fun show as per usual. Last time we all wore tuxedos and formal dresses. This time we’re wearing 70’s ski lodge attire.

1st: Fire Flies
2nd: Art of Shooting
3rd: Ravens & Chimes

the show starts at 7pm and we play at 9. $8

Last weekend it snowed too and we were guests on WNYC’s Soundcheck program. You can download a podcast of the episode here

In other news it’s very cold in the Northeast this weekend, so spend your nights inside with the warmest hearts in new music, Ravens & Chimes. We have some shows this weekend. They are our last of this fall tour, so then next chance you will have to see us in the flesh is, uh, early January for the Winter tour.

:::Thursday, Dec 13 @ Haverford College
:::::Friday, Dec 14, 8:30PM @ Washington, DC – Rock and Roll Hotel (w/ Mobius Band, The Epochs and Middle Distance Runner)
:::::::Saturday, Dec 15, 10:30PM @ Brooklyn – Galapagos (Deli Magazine holiday party)

In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of our live show. The video is from our performance last month on WOXY radio in Cincinnati.

Things are heating up around the release so I think it’s about time I started taking part in this blog.

We’re playing our release show at Union Hall in Brooklyn on October 11th with Division Day and the first of our CMJ shows on October 16th at Fontana’s. Then we’re hitting the road on tour November 8th.

Stay tuned to our myspace page for more show info. If you live in Chicago and you can help us out with a show then drop us a line.

In case you guys didn’t know there’s an article on us in the new issue of V magazine with the picture of Brad Pitt on the cover.

Also we got a really sterling writeup here:http://rawkblog.blogspot.com/2007/09/first-look-ravens-chimes-reichenbach.html

Anyway if you love our music you will be able to buy it on October 9th from Amazon or iTunes or your local independent record shop. We are going to throw a party on October 9th where us and all our buddies go to Other Music and buy it together! If you want to come and then get a drink at Black and White email us through our contact link on this here site.

I’m turning 25 on Saturday. No more “early 20’s recent college grad” and on to “twentysomething”

Wish me luck.

Good vibes,

Asher

Your favorite Raisins and Chives will be performing this Monday at the famed Mercury Lounge. It’s one of those “see how many people we can bring” type deals where the club puts us on a funky time slot to audition us and our  fans.

So….show how obsessed you are with our good looks; come on Monday after work or school or en route to your next Urban Express delivery.

The Mercury Lounge
217 E. Houston St. (corner Ave A & Houston)
Monday 7/2 7:00 PM
$10

My deepest apologies for not constantly posting while we were on the road. Once we left Los Angeles our days and nights were filled with endless walking tours, new friends, and of course great performances. Here are some pictures from the tour:

Some friends in Seattle actually made their own shirts. They’re the coolest.

While in Seattle I got to perform in front of some old friends and family at The Crocodile Cafe. This is the same club where Superdelux, Nirvana, and Modest Mouse used to play shows that I couldn’t see because I was under 21, thank you very much Seattle Teen Dance Ordinance. The gentleman on the left is the man, the myth, the legend, Barry Pollack.

By the way, San Francisco is cold.

le Voyeur

I’m pretty sure in this photo I am reaching up to change OSC1 from a Saw wave to a Square wave during Brittany and my solo bit at the end of Archways. Britt is playing glockenspiel with her right, and piano with her left (she occasionally does this part in octaves on the right… using her vibes skillzz)! Rich is in the back, shrouded in darkness … somehow he escaped almost every performance photo this tour

Last night we played UCLA with Meho Plaza, and the night before we played the Scene Bar in Glendale with Nationale, Wallpaper, and the Politics.  It was great to finally meet our label-mates Meho in person at the UCLA show.  Their set was excellent — quirky and energetic.  It was especially fun since we’ve all been listening to their album, and could sing a long a little.

Today and tomorrow will be spent in “Grey Rock Studio” recording a little before we continue up the coast.  In other news, I stupidly forgot the cable for my camera at home … but I promise to get another soon and start sharing some of the photos I’ve taken.

The first entry to our tour diary. Maybe someone will publish the next batch? Gothamist? I’m looking at you guys!

So Brittany flew into New York last night to start rehearsals with the Ravens. We’ve got a busy few weeks ahead of us, and I applaud her for making the 15 hour journey to New York for all the hard work in store.

Of course by “15 hour journey” I mean that she spent 15 hours flying from Seattle to New York! Her plane had to land in montana for “medical problems,” whatever that means. I guess this is just a warm up to our 50+ odd hours of driving to look forward to.

Stay tuned for the next entry as I try to learn how to stream the tour live on www.justin.tv
